Understanding the aqueous phases of alkali-activated slag paste under water curing

چکیده
The chemical compositions of the aqueous phases in alkali-activated slag (AAS) paste and Portland cement (PC) were determined up to 28 d with aim obtaining a better understanding stability hydration products two binder systems. saturation levels respect PC AAS obtained by thermodynamic modelling. main findings this study were: effective index for portlandite system was always below zero sulfate-bearing not stable compared those PC; strätlingite hydrotalcite due high magnesium silicon concentrations pore solution; both ionic strength alkalinity solution higher than solution, which responsible more severe efflorescence conductivity solution. According estimations, tobermorite-based C–S–H dominant after 7 d, while jennite-based gels present d. results suggest that pastes, different solid are formed during hydration, change time, reactions equilibria binders completely different.

Comparative Study of Alkali-Activated Fly Ash Manufactured Under Pulsed Microwave Curing and Thermal Oven Curing
This paper compares the alkali-activated fly ash (AAFA) manufactured with thermal oven curing and pulsed microwave curing methods. Fly ash activated by 8M NaOH solution at a liquid to solid ratio of 0.3 was cured by thermal oven at 85°C and domestic microwave oven, respectively. Apart from compressive strength test, the temperature profiles of AAFA samples were captured by thermal camera. React...
متن کاملThe Interfacial Transition Zone in Alkali-Activated Slag Mortars
The interfacial transition zone (ITZ) is known to strongly influence the mechanical and transport properties of mortars and concretes. This paper studies the ITZ between siliceous (quartz) aggregates and alkali-activated slag (AAS) binders in the context of mortar specimens. Backscattered electron (BSE) images generated in an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) are used to identif...
متن کاملRoles of Mineralogical Phases in Aqueous Carbonation of Steelmaking Slag
Mineralogical phases of steelmaking slags have significant influences on the carbonation of the slags. In this paper, the effects of temperature and reaction time on the conversion of calcium-related phases and the carbonation degree of a slag sample were studied. The experimental conditions were a liquid-to-solid ratio of 20 mL/g, a carbon dioxide flow rate of 1 L/min and a slag particle size ...
متن کاملSELF-Cured Alkali Activated Slag Concrete Mixes- An Experimental Study
Alkali Activated Slag Concrete (AASC) mixes are manufactured by activating ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) using sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solutions. The aim of the present experimental research was to investigate the effect of increasing the dosages of sodium oxide (Na2O, in the range of 4 to 8%) and the activator modulus (Ms) (i.e. the SiO2/Na2O ratio, in the range of ...
